Flandrien Scholarship Program & Cycling Hostel
Flandrien Scholarship & Cycling Hostel
The Flandrien Scholarship Program’s mission is to support young female and male athletes from under represented groups to live and race in Belgium. Applicants need to be 19 years or older and hold a UCI Racing License. Scholarship holders live at the Flandrien Hotel in low-cost Dormitory-style accommodation and have use of vehicles for race transport and access to all hotel services. Stays are typically between six and twelve weeks. Our guests have the opportunity to support the Scholarship Program via donations to the Flandrien Non-For-Profit Association. Team Building & Mentoring
The Flandrien Scholarship is far more than a unique opportunity to train and race in the heartland of cycling—Belgium. At its core, it is a holistic development program that goes well beyond physical performance on the bike. While the scholarship offers unmatched exposure to European racing and the rigors of the Flemish cycling culture, it is equally invested in shaping well-rounded individuals. One of the defining aspects of the Flandrien Scholarship is its focus on team spirit. Athletes are encouraged to support one another, both on and off the bike, fostering a sense of unity that reflects the true essence of our program. Scholarship riders are free to wear their own Club or Development Team jerseys in competition.
Diversity & Inclusion
Creating an environment that is open, tolerant, and inclusive is a fundamental pillar of the scholarship. Athletes from diverse backgrounds are welcomed, and differences in culture, identity, and experience are celebrated. The program actively works to ensure that every participant feels safe, seen, and supported, allowing them to bring their whole selves into the experience. While the scholarship offers unmatched exposure to European racing and the rigors of the Flemish cycling culture, it is equally invested in shaping well-rounded individuals. For 2026 more than 70% of our Scholarships have been awarded to women, and we will welcome our first athletes from Bolivia and Ethiopia.
Self Development
In addition to athletic training, all scholarship recipients receive mentoring on personal and professional development. This includes guidance on career pathways within and beyond sport, mental well-being, communication skills, and leadership. The goal is to equip athletes not only to excel in cycling, but to grow into confident, capable individuals ready to make a positive impact in whatever path they choose. The Flandrien Scholarship is far more than a unique opportunity to train and race in the heartland of cycling— at its core, it is a holistic development program that goes well beyond physical performance on the bike.
